The Good Neighbor Policy requires proposed cannabis dispensary owners to notify their neighbors within a 300 foot radius of the proposed site. The Gold Mirror owners, Roberto & Domenico DeGrande, hand delivered this paper notice to their neighbors on Saturday, Nov. 19th, 2022, leaving it on doorsteps and front porches. We'd like to take the time to analyze this notice, and identify inconsistencies and contradictions in the owners' arguments for why they believe a cannabis dispensary is justified on the 2nd floor of the Gold Mirror Restaurant. The masking and social distancing requirements from the pandemic are quickly vanishing. Why not hire staff and advertise the mezzanine for its intended purpose of holding banquets, private parties, etc.? Dear Friends & Neighbors, (中文版本将跟随英文版本) The hearing date for the Gold Mirror cannabis dispensary ( proposed name "Green Mirror") has been set for Thursday, January 5th, 2023. This will be a hybrid meeting with both in-persona and online access. Time, location, and Zoom link for the hearing will be shared soon. It's imperative you join us, preferably in person, as this will make a stronger impression on the planning commissioners, who will vote during the hearing whether or not to approve the cannabis permit for the Gold Mirror.  Some background information..... We held a debate with the proponents and opponents of the dispensary at last month's Greater West Portal Neighborhood Association (GWPNA), and three points became immensely clear during the debate. 1) The Gold Mirror owners are using the proposed dispensary to help subsidize their supposedly "ailing" restaurant business. Thank you to everyone who came out last Sunday, Nov 5th, and helped clean up Taraval street. We had about 12 volunteers participate and collected 15 bags of trash! Out next cleanup will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4th, 2-4pm at Happy Day Preschool on 809 Taraval Street. See you then!
