Cannabis Use Soars Among Youth

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

As much as our opponents would like you to believe, we are not fear mongering when we say a cannabis dispensary poses a clear danger to the children in our neighborhood. We are not making this stuff up, as our claims are backed by a new Gallup Poll analysis and facts and statistics presented in this article from the New York Post.

Cognitive Impact of Cannabis on Youth

This is an interesting report just before cannabis was legalized by SF Dept of Public Health ,  1) Concern for the cognitive impacts on youth 2) Youth perception: "Among youth in the focus group, cannabis was also perceived as easy to obtain, with its use perceived as normalized and associated with being “chill” and “cool” among youth." p. 12 3) Key informants had diverse views on medical cannabis dispensaries and believed their impact on surrounding communities was either minimal (e.g. don’t contribute crime; most adhere to rules; any issues are mostly quality of life issues), positive (e.g. improved block; lowered crime through activation and security), or negative (e.g. clusters in certain neighborhoods; crowds out other retail; attracts problem clientele; have normalizing effect on youth). Appeal Hearing Date Set for April 18th, 2023

Dear Friends & Neighbors, The appeal hearing date for the Gold Mirror dispensary is set for Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 3pm in City Hall.  As you may have heard, the planning commission unanimously approved the conditional use permit for the dispensary at the public hearing on Feb. 2nd, even after the overwhelming majority of public comments opposed it.  We appealed based on these facts .
