500 Online Signatures - Thank You For Helping Us Reach This Milestone!
Thank you to everyone who signed our online petition and helped us meet this important milestone. Please continue to share our message with your neighbors and other concerned residents.
We continue to meet in-person on Mondays at 6pm at Happy Days Preschool on 809 Taraval Street. Please join us!
We'd like to share the following comment from an area code 94122 resident who signed our petition.
"We moved into the neighborhood in 2018. Since then we have witnessed the ebb a flow of the area, most of which has been positive but, some of which that has turned out to be negative. I am also a consumer of THC products. My personal belief is that adding a cannabis dispensary into the community at this time would have detrimental effects to the safety and security of our streets. Our current District Attorney and the powers that be are not prioritizing most ongoing incidences of crime which has caused a significant increase of confident criminal activity over the past few years. Moreover, cannabis dispensaries are currently viewed as hot commodities making them prime targets for organized theft rings. All one has to do is plug in the words; “SF dispensary robbery” into Google’s search engine and they’ll find article after article from 2020 to 2022, describing the numerous dispensaries that have been targets of organized crime over the many years. One that greatly worried myself was a dispensary in Oakland."
Please understand that we are not against the opening of dispensaries and the distribution and use of cannabis or THC products in San Francisco, as it can be helpful for adults who have certain medical conditions, however we prefer it does not happen in our neighborhood for two main reasons: 1) the ensuing crime that inevitably results based on numerous research studies and online articles, such as this one, and 2) the safety and well-being of school-age children who heavily populate the area near the proposed site, and are vulnerable to the negative aspects of cannabis exposure.
Finally, please also continue to write your local officials below. We have samples letters on this web site that you are welcome to use as a template or reference.
